Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr drops 2 big players after draw against Zimbabwe

- Kelechi Iheanacho has been dropped from the Super Eagles 2019 AFCON team

- Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr dropped him and Semi Ajayi on Sunday morning, June 9

- Rohr is expected to fly to Egypt with 23 other players for the Nations Cup

Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has reportedly been dropped by Super Eagles coach ahead of Nigeria's campaign at the 2019 Nations Cup in Egypt.

Semi Ajayi who plays for English club Rotherham United was also reported to have been dropped by Gernot Rohr who was not impressed with his game.

At the just concluded Premier League season, Kelechi Iheanacho struggled for form and was left on the bench for most games for his club.

He got a chance to face Manchester City in week 37 of the Premier League season and saw a good chance to score against Pep Guardiola's men which could have ended their title hope.

But Iheanacho surprisingly missed the glorious chance against Manchester City goalie Ederson.

Meanwhile, 23 Super Eagles players are expected to fly to Egypt via a chartered flight where they will play Senegal in another friendly before the Nations Cup.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Super Eagles of Nigeria were on Saturday, June 8, forced to a goalless draw by visiting Zimbabwe in an international friendly match played in Asaba, Delta state.

Captain of the Nigerian side Mikel Obi started the encounter and played till towards the end of the match before he was replaced by John Ogu.

Nigeria started the match impressively with the duo of Alex Iwobi and Mikel Obi dishing out superb passes in the midfield.
