The Enugu state Commissioner for Police, Nwodibo Ekechukwu(above), has been redeployed from the state following last Monday's attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Nimbo community in the state which led to the death of many and destruction of several properties.
Ekechukwu is being replaced by CP Emmanuel Ojukwu‎. Ekechukwu has been redeployed to the Eastern Port Police Command.

Ifeanyi Ubah elected as Chairman, Anambra State Football Association

The Proprietor of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, has been elected the Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ASFA). The election held yesterday in Awka. Chief Ubah, a prominent sports financier, business entrepreneur and newspaper publisher, received the overwhelming support of other prominent members of the state FA to sweep into office as the Board Chairman – in an election witnessed by prominent sports personalities like former National Head Coach, Ambassador Fanny Amun.


Dr. Ubah was elected with 24 votes to zero against Olisa Aniuno at a 26-member delegate congress in Awka.
Also present at the election were Mr. E.C. Chukwuemeka (NFF Electoral Committee Chairman); Sir Chidi Nwafor Okenwa (NFF Appeals Committee Chairman); Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau (NFF President’s Representative and the Chairman of Chairmen’s Forum); and Sen. Obinna Ogba, former NFF Executive Board  member and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Sports.
Others present were delegates, members of the congress, guests and members of the print and electronic media.
The former Vice Chairman of the board, Mr. Jude Obikwelu, was returned to his position with 24 votes to zero against his opponent, Obiefuna Akonam. The Chairman of the normalization committee, Ephraim Chukwuemeka had on April 28 at a stakeholders' meeting announced that the election into the ASFA would hold in May.
Speaking at the occasion, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, through his representative, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, congratulated the Anambra FA for the successful election and called for unity of purpose amongst the members.
In his acceptance speech, Ubah said he was accepting the post with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to the development of the game of football in Anambra State in particular, and Nigeria as a whole. He pledged to serve with genuine commitment, integrity, honesty and transparency.
He said he would turn around football in Anambra and Nigeria and make it a big industry and a major tourist attraction.

“It is a new dawn for football development in Anambra State. I urge every stakeholder to eschew rancour and collaborate with this new board as we aim to foster the massive development of football in Anambra State. I will deploy my vast network and goodwill to attract private investment as well as improved government participation in football in the state.
It is also to use this opportunity to make sports, particularly football a tourist attraction to the state. The football industry will not only be an entertainment outfit for our people but will also afford them an opportunity to fraternize, unite and strengthen peaceful co-existence amongst all communities and associations irrespective of their religious, cultural, professional and geographical divide. We will also make football a revenue spinner for Anambra state and Nigeria.

“I intend to use this opportunity as Chairman of Anambra State Football Association to provide employment for our teeming unemployed youths in our proposed Football Academy," he said.
Dr. Ubah announced that, in due course, he would unveil a number of programmes/projects designed to actualize the set goals of the Anambra State Football Association.  These programmes include the following:
·        Anambra Traders Unity Cup
·        U-17 Academicals Football Games
·        Ifeanyi Ubah Unity Cup
·        Anambra Football Hall of Fame and Awards Night
·        High Level Training for Football Coaches, Referees and Football Administrators
·        Bidding to host 2016 Federations Cup Finals
·        Launching of Anambra State Football Association House
·        Giving prominence to female football competitions and programmes.
His words:

“Indeed, there is no victor and no vanquished in this election. I enjoin everyone to bring whatever he or she has to the table as we start this new journey towards achieving greatness. It is important that we all key into this new football revolution that is coming to Anambra state and every one of us will be happy to part of this success story.

“By the powers conferred as the State FA Chairman, I and the Board hereby declare that every suspension and sanction imposed on any player, coach, referee and any other person during the controversies arising from the State FA election is hereby lifted with immediate effect. Such persons are hereby reabsorbed and advised to go back to his or her association as a free person. We shall forthwith inform the NFF of this decision.

“I wish to also thank the NFF, the electoral body and the Anambra State Government for their roles in the success of this election. Finally, I assure you that Anambra State Football Association will be great again and emerge as a key stakeholder in the sphere of football at the national and continental level.”
The official results of the Anambra State elections into the Executive Board are as follows:
  1. Anambra North: Joe Amene; Emeka Raphael and Udu Kingsley (Members).
  2. Anambra Central: Dr. C.C. Amuze; Sir Bebeto Anthony Udennaka; (Members). Barrister J.B.C. Obikwelu (Vice Chairman).
  3. Anambra South: Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (Chairman); Sir Albert Chinwe, Mrs Ada Yotchi Edward (Members).

The Ogun state police command have arrested Keji Osunjirin pictured above for setting his wife, Fatimo, ablaze because she disobeyed him and attended a family party he had instructed her not to attend. Some neighbours said Keji had a quarell with his wife hours after she returned from the party.
He left the house and returned with a jerry can filled with petrol and allegedly poured the petrol on his wife and lit a match stick. When he realized his error, he rushed her to the hospital, unfortunately, Fatimo died from the burns she sustained from the incident.

 Fatimo left behind a little girl.

When interrogated, Keji said he did not attack his wife with the petrol which he said was meant for their generator.

According to him, the jerry can caught fire in his hand and he unconsciously threw it at his wife. Keji will soon charged to court.

Mom gets 1 month in jail for assaulting her 15 month old baby while on a plane

A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced a Hawaii mother of seven,  Samantha Leialoha Watanabe, to a month in jail and three months under home confinement for assaulting her 15-month-old daughter on a flight from Alaska. A jury convicted her of assault after last year's trial where prosecutors alleged she cursed at her daughter, smacked her on her head, hit her in the face with a stuffed doll and yanked out some of her hair during the May 2015 Alaska Airlines flight. Passengers who witnessed the assault reported her to airplane workers who reported her to the police.
She was arrested as soon as she disembarked from the plane and her child taken from her by authorities.

Her public defense attorney argued the allegations were made up by judgmental passengers who didn't like how Watanabe looked and dressed her child. The attorneys said Watanabe didn't do anything beyond disciplining her child who was fussy during a long flight.

Public defender Alexander Silvert told the judge Watanabe is breastfeeding a baby she gave birth to prematurely last month. It's her seventh child. She agreed to let the boy's father have custody, but she sees the infant frequently enough for nursing, Silvert explained.

He added that Watanabe doesn't have custody of any of her six other children, including the girl she was traveling with when she was arrested. That she has led a hard life of drugs and homelessness, but has made improvements to her life since her arrest, from anger management to mental health and drug treatment, he said. Silvert asked the judge not to condemn her for that life.
"It was poor parenting skills that got us where we are today," Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Wallenstein said in requesting the judge sentence her within a guideline range of four to 10 months. "No one in any socio-economic class is allowed to assault a 15-month-old child."
But the judge  sentenced her to one month in jail and 3 months of house arrest, advising her to use the 30 days at the Honolulu Federal Detention Center for reflection.

She has until May 10 to surrender to authorities to begin her sentence.

While 50 Cent was at the Cincinatti/Northern Kentucky Airport, he saw a janitor pushing his bucket and assumed the janitor was high. He turned on his cell phone and started recording him saying the man was “high as a motherf—-r.” He asked him..
"What's your name?What did you take before coming to work? Then he turned the video on himself and said.." "The New generation is crazy,they crazy"
The worker ignored him and kept pushing his buckets. 50 Cent put the video on his IG page insisting the man was high.

However, people who knew the man identified him as 19 year old Andrew Farrell who suffered from Autism and social anxiety.

When 50 Cent realized his mistake, he deleted the video from his Instagram account after an online backlash.

The parents of the worker, Andrew Farrell, said he has mild autism and deals with social anxiety.

His step Father Ken Farrell said seeing the footage felt like a "slap in the face". He said he'd take 50 Cents to court unless he donates $1 million to a GoFundMe as well as issue a public apology to Andrew.
The step father said
"Personally, I think the guy was mad. Andrew didn't know who he was right away and he ignored him and he did his job and went about his business. "I think he was mad and offended that someone didn't flock to him."
50 Cent has since issued an apology to the young man through Page Six. he said:
"While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man." “It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America. I have apologized personally to him and his family.”
No word on the $1 million donation.

Woman sues Starbucks for $5 mil over too much ice in cold drinks

A Chicago woman Stacy Pincus, has filed a lawsuit against Starbucks for more than $5 million, claiming the coffee giant regularly overfills its cold drinks with ice instead of using the advertised amount of coffee or other liquid in its plastic cups. She accused Starbucks of  false advertising and consumer fraud, adding that they serve its customers “much less than advertised.

The lawsuit alleges that an iced beverage advertised at 24 ounces contains about 14 ounces of fluid, and that ice isn't a fluid or beverage.
"A Starbucks customer who orders and pays for a cold drink receives much less than advertised — often nearly half as many fluid ounces," the lawsuit states, adding that the practice is "by design and corporate practice and procedure."
“Starbucks includes these three black lines on its cold drink cups to ensure that its employees fill these cups with less fluid ounces than are advertised on Starbucks’s menu for a given cold drink,” the lawsuit says. “In fact, Starbucks instructs its employees to provide its customers with fewer fluid ounces than advertised.”
In the lawsuit, Pincus also challenged Starbucks’s pricing, saying it charges more for cold drinks than hot ones. An average Grande Iced Coffee, advertised as a 16-ounce drink, costs $2.65, while a hot Grande Freshly Brewed Coffee costs $2.10.
“Essentially, Starbucks is not only underfilling its cold drinks compared to how they are advertised, but it is charging a premium price for them as well,” the filing reads. “Starbucks’s cold drinks are underfilled to make more money and higher profits, to the detriment of consumers who are misled by Starbucks’s intentionally misleading advertising practices.”
However, Starbucks dismissed the lawsuit as “frivolous and without merit.”
“Our customers understand and expect that ice is an essential component of any ‘iced’ beverage,” the coffee giant said in a statement. “If a customer is not satisfied with their beverage preparation, we will gladly remake it.”
Starbucks, has more than 23,000 stores worldwide, reported $19.2 billion in net revenue in 2015, a 16.5 percent increase from the previous year.

A lot of people think Pincus is only trying to get free money and that her lawsuit is dead on arrival at any court.

The leadership of the Nigeria Labor Congress NLC have blasted former media aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, for calling on state governors to downsize their civil servants so they can have enough funds to pay salaries and stop the habit of seeking bailout from the Federal government. Reacting to Okupe's suggestion, the chairman of NLC, Ayuba Wabba, described his suggestion as a jaundiced argument. He questioned Okupe's degree as a medical doctor. The statement in part reads..
“Ordinarily, we would not have responded to Doyin Okupe when he urged governors, in a statement few days ago, to retrench civil servants as a panacea to irregular payment of salaries, because we know him. In his jaundiced argument, very much unlike one who is truly deserving of his certificate from a medical school, Okupe said, ‘virtually all state governments in the country have over-bloated civil service’. 
To underscore this point, he said between ‘2008 and 2009, Ogun State received N2 billion monthly from the federation account and paid out N1.8billion as staff salaries, wages and overhead costs’ to civil servants not more than 50,000 in a state with a population of 5,000,000. 
In his view therefore it was ‘an obvious socio-economic absurdity and incongruity where 10 per cent of the population was consuming 90 per cent of the wealth of the state. Okupe is bandying political statistics and this is neither good for his health nor the health of those with whom he seeks to ingratiate himself. We at the Nigeria Labour Congress believe in the equitable distribution of the nation’s resources. 
We will not subscribe to a situation whereby 10 per cent corner 90 per cent of the resources of the state. It is in furtherance of this that we urge Okupe to do a forensic audit of what Ogun got, what it paid to civil servants, contractors and politicians and what it used in running the Government House!”
