Speakership: Onyejeocha, Odebunmi step down for Gbajabiamila

A report by Vanguard indicates that two major contenders, Segun Odebunmi and Nkeiruika Onyejeocha on Sunday, June 9, stepped down for Femi Gbajabiamila ahead of the election of principal officers into the House of Representatives on Tuesday, June 11.

According to the report, the director-general of Gbajabiamila’s Campaign Organization, Hon Abdulmunin Jibrin made the announcement at an interactive session with lawmakers across party lines.

However, Onyejeocha, one of the lawmakers that reportedly stepped down was not visibly present at the session but her name was announced.

Jibrin also announced the list of other contestants that had withdrawn from the race four weeks back.
