Mother of emir of Ilorin dies at 124

The mother of the emir of Ilorin, Emir Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Alhaja Aishat Nma Zuluqarnain Gambari died on Monday, June 3, at the age of 124.

The disclosure was made in a statement by the palace, which said that the deceased was the granddaughter of the late 7th emir of Ilorin, Vanguard reports.

Legit.ng notes that the statement read: “InnaLillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Sadly the mother of our Emir, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, passed away this evening. Princess Alhaja Aishat Nma Sulukarnaini Gambari was 124 years old.

“She was: (i) the granddaughter of the late 7th Emir of Ilorin (ii) daughter of the late 8th Emir of Ilorin (ii) wife of the late 9th Emir of Ilorin (iv) sister of the late 10th Emir of Ilorin (v) mother of the 11th Emir of Ilorin. May her dear sweet soul rest in perfect peace.

“As we mourn with His Royal Highness and the Royal Household, we give thanks to Allah for a glorious long life, for all her achievements, the joy and happiness she brought to so many.

“May Allah overlook for shortcomings and forgive her sins, and may He grant her Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the emir of Ilorin and chairman of Kwara state Traditional Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, denied complaining about the content of campaign billboards erected by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

On Monday, December 10, the traditional ruler said there was no truth in the claim, which was made by the Kwara State Signage and Advertising Agency.

The denial was made in a statement by the national secretary of Shehu Alimi Foundation for Peace and Development, Abdulazeez Arowona.

The statement read: “KWASAA in a letter dated November 6, 2018 claimed that it received a complaint from the palace of the Emir of Ilorin on the campaign advertisements of the APC causing incitement in the state among others.

“It is worrisome that the name of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, is being mentioned to cause disaffection among political gladiators in the state. The Emir is neither a card-carrying member of any political party nor staff of any advertising agency."
