Why 2019 UTME candidate with highest score will not be admitted into selected university - JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that a 15-year-old boy from Abia State has emerged as best student in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

The candidate, Ekene Franklin, scored 347 in the just-released result of the examination.

Vanguard reports that Prof Ishaq Oloyode who is the registrar of JAMB who made the announcement on Saturday, May 11 said Ekene chose the University of Lagos as his preferred institution.

He added however added that he may not be admitted into UNILAG due to his age.

Igban Emmanuel Chidiebube, a 16-years-old also from Abia state came second with 346 while Oluwo Isaac Olamilekan, a 17-year-old from Osun state can declared third best candidate with 345.

Meanwhile, JAMB on Sunday, May 5, said it had secured conviction of five persons who were involved in examination fraud and malpractice during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The five persons were among the 100 suspects arrested by security operatives nationwide during the UTME last month, The Nation reports.

They are expected to serve between three months and two years jail term.
