Following the announcement of the result of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), a 15-year-old student has been recognized for scoring the highest mark in the examination.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of JAMB while making the announcement in Abuja, disclosed that out of 1,792,719 students that sat for the exam, 34,120 candidates had their results withheld for examination malpractice.
However, it was good news for Ekene Franklin, a candidate from Abia state that also sat for the exam and went on to score 347 marks, which turned out to be the highest score recorded in this year’s exercise.

Following closely behind Franklin, another 16-year-old candidate from Abia state identified as Igban Emmanuel Chidibube scored 346 marks while Oluwo Isaac Olamilekan Oloyode, a 17-year-old from Osun state came up in third place with a total test score of 345.

The registrar of the examination body said that in all, 2,906 candidates scored above 300 as against the 4,683 that was recorded in 2018.
He further made it known that 57, 579 candidates that sat for the exam, scored between 250 and 299 which was also different from 64,120 that was recorded in 2018.
Oloyede said that 366,757 candidates in this year’s exam scored between 200 and 249, which is an improvement from what was obtained in the past year.
Meanwhile, it was previously gathered that the JAMB registrar during a media briefing in Abuja disclosed that the best candidate may not be admitted into his university of choice.

He said that Franklin’s age may serve as a hindrance for him to be admitted into the University of Lagos (UNILAG), which he chose as his first choice.
