Join Annie Idibia, Ade Bantu to Help this Nigerian-German Woman Find a Stem Cell Donor | Saturday, May 11th

Astrid (Ada) is Nigerian-German and urgently needs an African-European/African-Caucasian stem cell donor who can help her to continue being there for her two children, her husband and her friends.

She’s been diagnosed with a particularly severe form of blood cancer – Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

The thing is, donors with a “non-white“ background are severely under-represented in the worldwide registries: 70% of all registered stem cell donors worldwide are white, whereas 85% of the world population is not. Only 3% of registered donors have a mixed background!

You can be Astrid’s guardian angel if one parent of yours comes from Nigeria (ideally from the Igbo people) and the other from Europe.

The Help Astrid campaign has put together Donor Drives in 3 states across Nigeria – Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu, giving opportunities for Nigerians to get registered as potential stem cell donors and potentially become life savers – for Astrid or for someone else.

You’ll be joining Annie Idibia and Ade Bantu, who are supporting this project.

After last week’s events in Enugu and Abuja, the donor drive is moving to Lagos

Details:

* Lagos on May 11th, 11am-4pm, @ GIZ Office Victoria Island, Idejo Street 592
