- The Nigeria Police has allegedly arrested the principal of Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede in Osun state
- The principal was said to have been arrested alongside the wife of the registrar of the schools, Rofiyat Oladepo and her nine-month-old baby
- PDP also called for the immediate release of the school Principal, the wife of the school registrar and her baby
The Nigeria Police on Wednesday, April 24, allegedly arrested the principal of Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede in Osun state.
Abbas Adejare - principal to the school which produced Senator Ademola Adeleke's WAEC certificate - was said to have been arrested alongside the wife of the registrar of the schools, Rofiyat Oladepo and her nine-month-old baby.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, April 25, the national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, said the action by the Police is part of All Progressives Congress plot to prevent Senator Ademola Adeleke from retrieving his governorship mandate freely given to him by the people of Osun state.
Ologbondiyan said the PDP has become apprehensive that there are plots to silence Senator Adeleke as a way to terminate his efforts to retrieve his governorship mandate in the court.
He said that Adeleke's life has remained in danger while alleging that the APC is viciously plotting to use all means to put him out of circulation.
Ologbondiyan said information available to the party shows that AIG Adeleye Oyebade of Zone II, Oshogbo, ordered the arrest of the school's principal, the registrar's wife and her baby.

"When the Registrar, Mr. Kabir Oladipo could not be reached as he is undergoing treatment for legs and arms injuries he sustained in a motor accident, AIG Oyebade allegedly ordered one ASP Faliyu to arrest the wife, Mrs. Rofiyatu Oladepo, with her 9 months old baby. Both the innocent mother and her baby were dumped at the Zone II Police headquarters, Osogbo," Ologbondiyan said.
He added that the PDP has also been informed of how AIG Oyebade allegedly told those who went to visit the detainees last night that they are continuing the criminal aspect of the civil action commenced by the APC, which is still in court.
Ologbondiyan said the party holds that it is most unfortunate that the Nigeria Police will allow certain elements within its ranks to yield themselves as tools in the hands of the oppressive APC in their desperation to thwart the mandate of the people of Osun state, which they freely gave to Senator Adeleke.
"It is clear that there is no way a school principal, who duly signed and issued a school testimonial under his own hand and position, can be said to have “forged” the same testimonial.
"Moreso, the school register as well as the WAEC result and certificate eminently show that Senator Adeleke attended the school, sat for WAEC examination and obtained the certificate, which has been validated even by a court of competent jurisdiction, thus also authenticating the school testimonial," he added.
The party further called on the inspector general of police, Adamu Mohammed, to call his men to order on issues related to Senator Adeleke’s determination towards the pursuit of retrieving his mandate as the elected governor of Osun state.
The PDP also called for the immediate release of the school Principal, the wife of the school registrar and her baby.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the PDP had on Tuesday, April 23, said it has rejected the inclusion of Justice J.O Oyewole as a member of the Osun state governorship election appeal panel.

The party alleged that Justice Oyewole has strong connections with the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is an interested party in the appeal.
Ologbondiyan, said the PDP has already petitioned the president of the court, objecting to the inclusion of Justice Oyewole in the appeal panel.
