My prayer is for Buhari to appoint the brightest, fittest people as minister in his second term

- Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly wants President Buhari to appoint the brightest set of Nigerians in his second term

- Bakare worries about the high spate of insecurity saying this is the result of high unemployment

- The clergyman insists that Nigeria should sustain its universities rather than grant more licenses

The general overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare, has spoken about Muhammadu Buhari’s second term saying he prays the president appoints the brightest and fittest.

The Cable reports that Bakare argued that Nigeria is endowed and that its assets can be employed for the development of the nation.

“It is in our corporate interest to ensure that there is a future for our young people and for the children, to ensure good healthcare delivery, to ensure transportation system that is flawless; there is so much assets in this country.

“I pray that President Buhari will do his best in the second term to appoint the best, the brightest and the fittest, so that you will see Nigeria turn around as we maximise the potentials of the nation,” Bakare said.

The lawyer and clergyman said there was the need for the government to look in the direction of job creation for teeming Nigerian youths.

According to him, such jobs would keep them busy and away from crime, especially since the country is facing escalating insecurity resulting from high unemployment.

The report quoted Bakare as saying on Channels Television: “We are being invaded from outside and from within, what do you think will happen to millions of jobless youths who have no way of providing for themselves? Crime would be the next option.

“So we need to create jobs, and more job, and more jobs, we have neglected the greatest asset of any nation - human capital. Our education sector has gone down the drain, we need to revive all that.”

The Christian leader said he amazed by the plans to give 300 licences for universities in the country.

“I am just amazed, they are glorified secondary schools. Let us solidify the ones we have; it is ok to start university, it is ok to have private universities, but let us maintain standards,” he said.

Legit.ng earlier reported how Pastor Tunde Bakare recently expressed his willingness to contest for the presidency after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term.

Bakare announced his ambition again, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, March 9, in Lagos shortly after casting his vote at the Opebi Grammar School polling unit.
