Man United vs Man City ended in a 2-0 win for the blue side in a high profile Manchester derby as Pep Guardiola's men move back to the top of the Premier League.

The blockbuster game started on high as City dominated possession but their performance was below par on the night, with a few errors and faulty passes.

United were the more organized side in defence and tried to hit their neighbours on the break on a couple of occasions.

Bernardo Silva forced a punch off David de Gea from his left-foot shot but the Spaniard went to ground quickly to save Raheem Sterling's shot moments before half time.

United, though did not create a real chance on goal in the first half, but they were the happier side going into the break with City knowing the league title is still up for grabs.

The deadlock was finally broken as Bernardo Silva scored from open play. The Portuguese made a run towards Luke Shaw, cuts it and drove it in low into De Gea's left-hand corner.

The goal took City to where they wanted to be - above Premier League rivals, Liverpool, but it was not over yet at old Tarfford.

A minute later, Sergio Aguero struck the post with his right-foot shot from outside the box which gave United little breathing space.

The Red Devils were also gifted a golden opportunity as Marcus Rashford's lobbing pass found Jesse Lingard who had to tap into an empty net but missed.

City increased their lead to 2-0 in the 66th minute through a counter attack started by Sterling as he found Leroy Sane whose left-foot shot came off De Gea's right leg and into the net.

Three attacking changes were made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Romelu Lukaku was brought on earlier and Anthony Martial along with Alexis Sanchez joined the attack but no avail.

The match ended in favour of the Citizens with Guardiola the happier of the two managers. Now the matches played are all even at 35.

The Citizens now have a one-point lead above Liverpool while Man United still have a mathematical chance of qualifying for top four in the next three games with Chelsea visiting Old Trafford next.

City will travel to Turf Moore to play Burnley, then host Leicester at the Etihad and play their last game of the season against Brighton.

Liverpool on the other hand, will host Huddersfield at Anfield, then play Newcastle away and end the season at home to Wolves.
