I am certain my performance in office got me re-elected - Buhari

- President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, April 1, said that he is of the belief that his performance earned him a re-election

- The president said the crowd that came for his campaign is a reflection of that and it was more than what could have been staged

- Buhari appreciated Nigerians for voting him a second time and promised that he would increase efforts to make the nation great

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, April 1, said that he is sure that his good performance in his first term in office helped his success at getting re-elected.

The president said the crowd that always received him at each state he went for campaign was more than anybody could fake, Daily Independent reports.

Buhari also said the reason there was huge turnouts at all his campaign rallies was because people appreciated his administration.

He added that he would not let the people down and double up efforts in providing the best for the nation when he resumes his second term in office on Wednesday, May 29.

President Buhari said all this when he received the Board of Trustees and Advisory Council of Gidauniyar Jihun Katsina (Katsina State Development Fund) which was led by Justice Mamman Nasir at the state House in Abuja.

The president mentioned that his campaign to all states of the nation was very revealing, while adding that as chairman of Katsina State Development Fund, he did a lot to support education, healthcare and agriculture in the state.

Justice Nasir, the Galadima of Katsina also appreciated God on behalf of the foundation for enabling the president’s re-election.

He also added that the foundation is glad for the service of Buhari as its chairman.

He said: “We are most grateful to Almighty Allah for bringing you back for another term in office. Our happiness and gratitude goes to Nigerians for electing you.’’

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Buhari arrived Dakar, capital of Senegal, ahead of the country's presidential inauguration on Monday, April 1.

The disclosure was made on Monday, April 1, by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina.

According to Adesina, President Buhari met with President Macky Sall of Senegal as he arrived the West African country.
