The governorship candidate of the APC in Imo state governorship election, Hope Uzodinma, has asked a tribunal to nullify the election of the PDP candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, and declare him as winner of the poll.
Ihedioha in a petition argued that he ought to be declared the winner of the Imo governporship election having polled majority of the votes cast at the election, Vanguard reports.
The APC candidate alleged that the INEC excluded votes cast for the his party at the polling units across the state which he said gave the PDP candidate an advantage.

He maintained that even after the votes were counted, the tally showed that the APC defeated the PDP candidate with a large margin.
“It was at the course of collation of the results at the ward, Local Government and State levels, that the 3rd respondent (INEC) incorrectly stated the votes of the 1st Respondent (Ihedioha) and thus reduced the votes of the petitioners by excluding the results from the polling units where the petitioners scored overwhelming majority of the votes cast,” the petitioned said.

“The petitioner further avers that “in order to give unfair advantage to the 1st and 2nd Respondents, the INEC unlawfully credited the 1st and 2nd Respondents with votes arising from over voting in all of the polling units in Aboh Mbaise, Ezinihitte and Ahiazu Mbaise LGAs.”
Meanwhile, the governor made the comment in Owerri on Friday, April 5, following criticisms of his last minute appointments.
Some chieftains of the incoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in the state, had accused the governor of trying to burden the incoming administration with the appointments.
The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mark Uchendu, inaugurated the chairman and members of some government boards and parastatals less than two months to the end of his tenure.
