- APC has kicked against the approval of bill seeking for life pension for the lawmakers of Bayelsa state
- The ruling party, in a statement, described the bill as ungodly and self-serving
- APC said the obnoxious bill should be reversed as people of Bayelsa will protest against it
The All Progressive Congress (APC) has described the approval of bill seeking for the payment of life pension to members of Bayelsa state House of Assembly as ungodly and self-serving.
The Bayelsa chapter of the ruling party, through a statement by publicity secretary, Doifie Buokoribo, accused the state lawmakers of making attempt to enhance their own lives at the expense of the vast majority of Bayelsa people living in pain and penury.
Buokoribo said described the bill as unspeakable crime against humanity and the impoverished people of the state.

He said: ''The party has also observed how the strange idea, which was proposed as a bill and passed by the House on Wednesday, has set the public pulse racing.
''APC Bayelsa completely rejects this life pension bill for members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
“Regarding this latest move by the House of Assembly, we again say that the idea is avaricious, wicked, and insensitive. By proposing such a law, the lawmakers have merely portrayed themselves as a people who feel no concern for the feelings of their suffering constituents.''
APC, however, called the lawmakers to withdraw the obnoxious bill, saying Bayelsa state will embark on a campaign of peaceful resistance against the ''rogue assembly.''
He said: “APC advises the legislature to withdraw the obnoxious pension bill and avoid the appalling crime against the people of Bayelsa state.
“Failing this, the party calls on the people of Bayelsa state to embark on a campaign of peaceful resistance against the rogue assembly.''
