The election of President Muhammadu Buhari on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 saved Nigeria from what could have been a total collapse, Boss Mustapha, the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), has claimed.
According to Mustapha, Nigeria was on its way to a collapse before President Buhari was brought in to salvage the situation.
Daily Trust reports that Mustapha said this at the 2019 National Policy and Development (N-PoD) summit held in Abuja on Tuesday, February 5.

The SGF, who was represented by the permanent secretary in charge of general services, Olusegun Adekunle, described integrity as the foundation of the ideals that define President Buhari’s government even in the presence of resistance from those who are used to corruption.
The SGF further noted that Nigeria is the trigger of the African continent and as a result, the country must lead by example.
The report said the summit was organized by the senior special assistant to the president on policy development and analysis, Ibrahim Bapetel Hassan.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Mohammed Bello, represented President Buhari at the event saying the achievements of the current administration is a proof that the ‘Next Level’ is assured.
According to him, the Buhari administration has delivered on its promises to the people.
President Muhammadu Buhari said that the decision of his administration to complete inherited projects arose from its commitment to serve Nigerians.
“As a people-oriented government, our deepest concern is to work for you and the nation, that is why, rather than initiate new projects, we decided in the nation’s interest to continue and complete projects that are strategic which we retained.
“This decision is a total drift from what was obtainable with the past governments.
“It may interest you to note that we had to maximize the little resources left, improve our revenue base and diversify the economy to insulate Nigeria from the inherent volatility of oil prices," he said.
Legit.ng earlier reported, however, that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, said Nigeria is more corrupt today than ever before.
Atiku in a statement on Monday, December 17, by his media adviser Paul Ibe, alleged that the federal government had made corruption to become an official policy.

He made the claim when speaking on the backdrop of a visit of the sacked secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), David Babachir Lawal made at the presidential villa recently, where he reportedly received a warm welcome.
