I will create Electoral Fraud Commission if elected president - Atiku

- The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, says he will establish Electoral Fraud Commission if elected president

- Atiku says the commission will be saddle with the responsibility of trying people found to have infringed on electoral laws

- According to the former vice president, he and Peter Obi, his running mate, have what it takes to end poverty in Nigeria

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said if he is elected president he will establish Electoral Fraud Commission to try found infringing on electoral laws.

Atiku made the promise on Wednesday, January 30, when he and his running mate, Peter Obi, attended The Candidate, a town hall meeting for presidential and vice presidential candidates, The Nation reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the PDP presidential candidate said he and Obi have what it takes to end poverty in the country.

He said: “A few years ago, I set up a microfinance bank and I brought in someone from Bangladesh and you know they are the best in the world in that area. I told him I wanted to lift people out of poverty and I want you to dedicate 80 per cent of your loans to women. You know how many persons I was able to lift out of poverty? 45,000."

According to him, a pro-business and private sector driven leadership is what Nigeria needs in order to create jobs for its 21 million unemployed youths.

He also spoke about corruption allegations levelled against him, saying he is the most investigated public officer in the country who have never been found wanting.

On corruption allegation against his wife, Atiku said: “My wife has not been indicted and she has not been charged, so there is no way you can hold her accountable, she has been traveling to America very often."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, reportedly said he was sure that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s presidential candidate and his former deputy, Atiku Abubakar, would be elected as president in the forthcoming elections.

The elder statesman, who recently took a swipe at the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, described the president's integrity and morality as fake and unbankable.

The former president made this statement on Wednesday, January 30, at the Island Club 2019 Quarterly Business Lecture held in Lagos state.
