The Imo state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to hasten the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage with a threat to reject those who refuse to act on the issue.
The Anambra chapter of the organisation also toed the position of their Imo counterparts saying its members would reject any candidate or political that refused to support the implementation of the new minimum wage.
Vanguard reports that the two state chapters made this known on Tuesday, during a mass mobilization exercise.

In Imo state, the report said the executives of the NLC, led by Comrade Austin Chilakpu, marched to one direction while some members of the organisation moved to the Government House roundabout along Okigwe road, led by Samuel Iwuala
The disagreement among members in Imo had to do with where to take the protest.
“We are here for the good of Nigeria. We are here for the upliftment of this country. We have been contributing positively to the growth of this country.
“But what we get is insult, what we get is maltreatment. We are tired of the hardship we are passing through. We are insisting that the minimum wage must be N30,000.
“With effect from today and till seven days, if nothing is done, we shall take our final decision.

“Any president or governor who refuses to send the bill for our minimum wage to become a law then, we will reject that leader,” the report quoted Iwuoha’s group as saying.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue said if he had the capacity, he would pay the state workers above N30,000 as minimum wage.
Ortom stated this on Tuesday, January 8, in Makurdi while addressing members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members of the union embarked on a peaceful protest to express their grievances over the delay in the implementation of the new national minimum wage of N30,000.
