The chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has urged the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to investigate the corruption allegations against the military.
There was an allegation against the military that funds appropriated for procurement of arms and other military equipment, to prosecute the counterterrorism and counterinsurgency war in the North-East, may not have been properly applied was levelled.

Sagay, while speaking on Boko Haram insurgency and alleged corruption in the army said: “Well, I believe the saying that ‘a dying snake is very vicious’. I believe the Boko Haram is dying, and this is their last set of vicious attacks, to give us the wrong impression that they are still potent.
“You will find that after this spate of attacks, they will just die quietly. Very soon, they will be extinguished.
“I will expect the government, as a responsible government, to investigate the corruption allegation. And then, after that, we will know what to say.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Nigerian Army on Tuesday, December 25, said its troops had repelled attack coordinated by Boko Haram insurgents at a military formation in Kukareta, Damaturu local government area of Yobe state.
In a statement, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, said the insurgents had on Monday, December 24, at about 6: 30 pm, attacked a Military Forward Operational Base, in Kukareta community of Yobe.
