A member of the House of Representatives has condoled with the family of the former president o f Nigeria, Shehu Shagari.
Danlami Kurfi describing the late Shagari as a nationalist leader said Nigeria would miss the former president.
In a statement to Legit.ng, Kurfi, who represents the Dutsinma/ Kurfi constituency the words of Shagari will ever remain golden to Nigeria's development.
He said: "Alhaji Shehu Shagari is a true democrat and nationalist leader who died without even living stupendous wealth to be inherited by his children, despite the fact that he had wielded enormous influence in the country and beyond."

"His words of wisdom always served as a motivation to me and many other Nigerians as he made it clear that Nigeria’s unity as sacrosanct," Kurfi said.
Praying for the repose of Shagari's soul, the lawmaker said it is also important for citizens to use this opportunity to reflect on the life lived by the late former president and endeavour to emulate his good morals.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Shagari died at the National Hospital in Abuja on Friday, December 28, after a brief illness, his family said.
His remains on Saturday, December 29, arrived Sa’ad Abubakar 111 international Airport Sokoto in a Federal Government aircraft with registration number 5N_FGZ at 12.55pm.

The body was received by the Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor Attahiru Bafarawa , Sokoto state Executive Council members and the family members of the late former president.
Shagari was interred at exactly 3.30pm after the funeral prayers led by Professor Shehu Galadanchi, former Vice Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto. Legit.ng gathered that the burial was followed by a military parade by members of Nigeria Armed Forces.
