Opposition parties dismiss Lai Mohammed’s claims on fulfilled promises

- A coalition of opposition political parties disagree with the claims by the minister of information, Lai Mohammed, that the APC-led federal government has fulfilled all the promises it made to Nigerians

- The spokesperson for the coalition, Imo Ugochinyere, describes Lai Mohammed’s claim as laughable

- Ugochinyere says the three main promises the APC made to Nigerians which hinged on security, improve economy and fight corruption had not been fulfilled

The reported claims by the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government has fulfilled all the promises it made to Nigerians has been dismissed by opposition political parties.

Mohammed was said to have told reporters on Friday, December 21, the government had met all its obligations to Nigerians.

But the minister’s claim was has been faulted by opposition parties under the aegis of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

The spokesperson for the coalition, Imo Ugochinyere, told the Punch in an interview that Lai Mohammed’s claim were laughable.

Ugochinyere stated that the three main promises the APC made to Nigerians which hinged on security, improved economy and fight against corruption had not been fulfilled.

He said: “Buhari made three promises to Nigerians. One was security. If after three years of him being in office, soldiers could be raided in their base and massacred, will you say he has met our expectations in terms of security?

“The second promise was on economy. As we speak now, rate of joblessness is increasing.

“He also promised to fight corruption. But key members of his government have been accused of corruption and they are dining with the President. So which expectation has he met?”

Ugochinyere said the minister was speaking like he was still in the opposition where he was deploying lies and propaganda to win elections.

Meanwhile, the leader of Qadiriyya sect in Africa, Sheikh Qaribullah Nasir-Kabara has described President Muhammadu Buhari as an honest leader with listening ears. The sect leader made the declaration during the sect’s annual Maulud celebration held in Kano.

Nasiru-Kabara said President Buhari also has deep interest of the country at heart and should be emulated by all those that wish Nigeria well.

He recalled that during a recent visit to the presidential villa by leaders of the sect, their request for some projects from the government were responded to quickly.
