- Ex Nigeria international Dickson Etuhu has escaped a six-year jail term in Sweden

- He was charged to court for allegedly involving in a match fixing in May 2017

- But Swedish court has declared the 36-year-old innocent of the allegation

Former Super Eagles star Dickson Etuhu has been cleared by Swedish court of being innocent of match fixing claims which could have sent him to six years in jail.

The 36-year-old was accused of trying to bribe a former teammate to fix a Swedish League match in 2017 between IFK Gothenburg and his former club Stockholm giants AIK.

The game which was supposed to be played on May 18, 2017 was later postponed following the alleged approach by Dickson Etuhu and he was charged to court.

And according to the report by Independent UK, the Stockholm district court which heard testimony from the Etuhu and Stamatopoulos last week has concluded that there was not enough evidence to support a conviction.

Before leaving England, Dickson Etuhu spent 14 years in the English topflight playing for clubs like Manchester City, Preston North End, Norwich, Sunderland, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers.

He was also among the Super Eagles stars that played at the 2010 FIFA World Cup championship in South Africa.
