Lagos governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, will not be given a mansion in Abuja according to the provision made in the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension) Law No 11 official Gazette of Lagos state, 2007 for governors who served two times.

The law states that former governors of Lagos state are entitled to a house in Lagos and Abuja in any location of their choice.

The law adds that any governor who does not serve for two consecutive terms, will only be entitled to a house in Lagos.

According to an investigative reports by The Punch, Governor Ambode will be the first governor in Lagos state since 2007 when the law was made, to miss out on a mansion in Abuja after leaving office.

Ambode lost his bid for second term when he lost the APC primary election to Babajide Sanwo-Olu in October 2018.

The governor is however, entitled to other benefits which include a house in any location in Lagos state, six brand new cars every three years, 100 per cent of the basic salary of the serving governor, (N7.7m per annum).

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) accused Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of funding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship campaign as payback for the way he was stopped from seeking a second term.

The accusation is coming ahead of a Monday, December 17, briefing where Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the southwest leader of the party is expected to address party members, Vanguard reports.

Though Ambode has publicly endorsed Sanwo-Olu as the party’s candidate for the Lagos state 2019 governorship election, a section of the party has continued to suspect the governor of double dealings.
