Travel agent nabbed for issuing fake Canadian admission letters to 22 students

- A travel consultant, Babatunde Gbadamosi, has been arraigned in court for allegedly issuing fake Canadian admission letter to 22 prospective students

- Gbadamosi reportedly collected the sum of N1,050,000 for the prospective student

Babatunde Gbadamosi, a 37-year-old travel consultant, has been arrested and arraigned in court for allegedly forging and issuing fake Canadian admission letters to 22 prospective students between 2017 and 2018.

Gbadamosi was allegedly contacted by Flymate Nigeria Limited tofacilitate the admission of 22 prospective students to the University of Regina in Canada.

He was paid the sum of N1,050,000 by the company between 2017 to 2018 to facilitate the admission.

Gbadamosi was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on 15 counts of conspiracy, forgery, obtaining under false pretences and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Francis Igbinosa, said: “Flymate Nigeria Limited last year approached the defendant to help with procuring admission for the students since it had so much work to do, and after an agreement with Gbadamosi, he was paid the said sum for the job, only for Flymate to discover from the students that the letters they got was fake.”

The magistrate, M. O. Osinbajo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N30,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till January 10, 2019 for trial.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the criminal investigations and intelligence department of the police command on Monday, November 18, charged three men before a Federal High Court in Lagos, over alleged cybercrime and the impersonation of President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha.

The accused are as follows Julius Anyanwu, a.k.a Musa Mohammed, 48 years old; Kenneth Ezeonu a.k.a Abdul Karim, 45 years; and George Agu a. k. a Dr Lina Norman, 48.
