2019: Kano will deliver 5 million votes to Buhari - Ganduje declares

- Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor of Kano state, has said that the state would deliver 5 million votes for President Buhari in 2019

- He said that the ruling APC would win all elective positions in the state during 2019 general elections

- Ganduje made this known during a grand reception for the former governor of the state, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, who recently defected from PDP to APC

Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has restated his commitment to deliver five million votes to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

Daily Trust reports that Ganduje promised this on Sunday, November 25, in Kano at a grand rally to formally welcome a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau and other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s defectors into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Legit.ng gathered that he said that the party's concern in the state is to win the next governorship, presidential, national and state assembly election in 2019.

He said: “Let us talk about Kano. APC is only party in Kano. We have the highest number of party members. Our effort is not only to win governorship, presidential, National Assembly and state House of assembly elections, our intention is to provide the highest number of votes for APC in Nigeria.

“If you remember, we promise Mr President a minimum of five million votes. Kano is the home of the progressives. Our great leader, Malam Aminu Kano was a progressive.

"Abubakar Rimi was a progressive….What do you expect from Kano apart from progressive government, administration and voting? That is why we are all united to give Mr President over five million votes from Kano state,” the governor also said.

Ganduje said with the return of Shekarau, the APC had taken more than half of membership of the PDP in Kano, describing him as a highly respected politician and a symbol of ordinary people.

The APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who received the defectors, said the opportunists should never be allowed to govern Nigeria again.

Oshiomhole, who said the focus of President Buhari was to rebuild the whole country, advised Nigerians not to hand over Nigeria to those with the history of taking from the nation and not giving.

He voiced optimism with the endorsement of President Buhari by 14.8 million APC members and added that under Buhari as a newly re-elected president, Nigeria would witness sustainable growth for the good of all.

“What is important is to have a man of honour like Buhari. The US, UK and Africa appreciate him. Only those who make money without work don’t like him,” he said.

Malam Shekarau, in his remarks, said: “In 2014, we stepped aside. Today, we have greater reason to step backwards into the APC.”

While expressing total commitment and loyalty to the party, he said the APC would win all positions in 2019 in Kano state.
