Bride price in Nigeria has remained a topic of debate for a long time. While many people believe the the idea of putting a high bride price on a woman is absurd, others think it is a part of tradition that should not be tempered with.
Well, a Nigerian man has caused quite a stir on social media with his recent post. He took to his Facebook page to share video of all the things his brother bought as bride-price for his inlaw's family.
In the video, Balenciaga sneakers, underwear, high heels, electronics, several tubber of yams, luggage and many others were seen among the items the groom brought as bride price.
The man identified as Phil Onyia Chimdindu shared the video and wrote: "This is Afikpo in Ebonyi state Nigeria, not Imo state oh…. My brother just paid his bride price in Afikpo (Ebonyi state) ?."

The tradition of paying bride price is gradually becoming a fundamental issue for some people. In some parts of the country, the bride price fixed is so high that the intending couple either breakup or elope together.
The complaints have become really loud and from the look of things, it appears some traditional heads are listening.
A while ago, LEGIT.com reported the news of how the practice of holding festivities in the house of a bride's parents during traditional marriages was banned by the Tiv Area Traditional Council (TATC) in Benue state.
According to reports, the council also pegged total expenses on marriage, including dowry or bride price as well as sundry issues, at N100,000 in any part of Tivland.
