Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku netted a first half brace in the 27th minutes and 44th minute for Manchester United in the must-win away game against Burnley on Sunday, September 1, 2018 to hand the Old Trafford dwellers full match points at Turf Moor.

The Jose Mourinho tutored-side dominated proceedings in every area of the pitch and the Portuguese boss would have been disappointed to have gone in just one goal ahead.

On the 27th minute Manchester United knocked the ball around the edge of the Burnley box with none of their defenders engaging the man with possession.

Alexi Sanchez had the time to dig out a cross, and he takes full advantage with a pinpoint delivery to the back post for Lukaku, who wasted no time to put his header past Joe Hart in goal.

Lukaku almost doubled their advantage on the 36th minute but Hart made a big save to deny the Belgian.

After the save the Burnley supporters were getting frustrated with their team display as the Red Devils continued to dominate possession.

By the 40th minute United took over the game completely as their hosts lacked the cutting edge with their woeful play.

Minutes later Lingard's shot deflects kindly for Lukaku, who made no mistake from close range to net the second for United against a struggling Burnley on the 44th minute.

At the end of the first 45 minutes one minute of added time was played out but the scores remained a two- at the end of this first half.

In the second half, it was great to see United still push on and try bolster their goal difference in the Premier League standings.

However Hart saved Paul Pogba‘s penalty kick bid after Aaron Lennon tackle on Marcus Rashford in the box.

Burnley’s Phil Bardsley was handed a yellow card and Rashford a red after the latter headbutted the former following a dirty foul from Bardsley.

Lukaku also had a breakaway pass from Pogba, and danced around Hart but couldn’t get past Ben Mee‘s challenge.

Mee had both hands on Lukaku’s challenge, but referee Jon Moss did not award United its second penalty of the game.

At the blast of the whistle United moves 10th on the table with six points, while Burnley remains 19th.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says the Red Devils are lacking in quality when compared with rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

According to a UK Sun report the Portuguese stressed that the pair of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp and their squads are the best entertainers of the Premier League, he lacks special players to challenge them making it pretty tough to beat them at their own game — especially in defence.

The former Real Madrid coach’s inability to bring in highly-rated centre-back in the summer remains a talking point as had played some players out of position.
