The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the just concluded election in Ekiti, Segun Adewale, has revealed that his experience in the exercise shows that it could be difficult for other parties to individually floor the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state.
The election in Osun election is slated for September 22, but Adewale says only a solid cooperation among the contending political parties can stop the ruling party in the forthcoming governorship exercise in the state.
Adewale, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state before moving to Ekiti, said experience has given him deep experience on how elections are conducted in Nigeria.

Adewale said when he contested for governorship election in Ekiti, there were possibilities for other parties to work together to prevent APC from gaining power, but that all of them involved went to the battle field individually and they lost.
He advised all opposition political parties in the Osun election to jointly present a candidate and use the most accepted party before going into the election.
“What is important at this moment is how to rescue Osun from further poverty, debt, unemployment and executive rascality, urging all actors to put aside their ego and work together for the sake of the Osun people at this critical time,” he said.
Adewale added that the major players involved in the forthcoming election including Alhaji Moshood Adeoti of the ADP, Senator Iyiola Omisore of the SDP and Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP must be ready to work out an alliance and present a single candidate they are ready to win.
Adewale said that, apart from the federal agencies that the APC-led federal government could deploy to the state like it happened in Ondo and Ekiti elections, “the amount of money they will pump on that day just to secure people's votes may not be easily matched by any of the opposition candidates if they go into the election individually.

Adewale said electorates may not vote based on the good manifesto but act on what they are given on the election day.
He claimed that on the day of the election, INEC made it difficult for his agents to obtain their electoral materials like tags until about 1:45 pm when the election was almost over.
He also claimed that in some cases, ballot papers will go missing while some materials meant for an area could be taken to other places with an argument that it was a mistake.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the accountant general of Osun state, Alaba Kolawole, allegedly resigned, sparking allegation of fraud against the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led government in the state.
He was said to have written letters to some commercial banks that they should no longer honour any cheque bearing his signature starting from Monday, September 10.
