An old woman in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area (LGA), Abia state has been empowered with a bicycle by the speaker of state House Of Assembly, Chikwendu Kanu.
The Assembly Speaker’s aide who presented the bicycle posed for photos with members of Kweremee, a personal political structure of the Hon. Speaker who gathered in celebration of the empowerment.
The old woman was presented with the bicycle in the presence of her people.

This is coming months after the senator representing Abia north zone in the National Assembly, Mao Ohuabunwa, distributed home appliances to constituents as part of his empowerment programme.

However, reacting to the backlash he faced after photos of his empowerment materials went viral, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa described media reports insinuating that he empowered women in his constituency with frying pan and camp gas as mischievous and deliberate spread of falsehood.
Senator Ohuabunwa, who spoke through his special assistant, Uche Okoli, described the report as a distortion of fact and misrepresentation of what actually happened.
According to Okoli, his boss conducted a skill acquisition training programme in 2017 which was handled by the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDAN), adding that after the training, each person was equipped with the necessary tools needed in the area of training with a financial support of up to N50,000.
