Emerging reports claimed that states chairmen of the APC on Sunday, September 2, stormed Abuja over the confusion that trailed the NEC decision on mode of primaries to be adopted for the party’s primaries ahead of the 2019 elections.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the states chairmen were not pleased with the position of the NEC on the mode of primaries to adopt the party flagbearers for the 2019 elections.
It was learnt that some National Working Committee (NWC) members of the party were not also in support of the Direct primary reportedly earlier adopted by the NEC for choosing presidential candidate of the party.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that some governors and state chairmen of the APC demanded for the indirect primaries while members of the National Assembly, and party stakeholders have opted for direct primaries.
Those who opted for direct primaries said because, in their view, it will give members a say on the choice of their representatives.

There were fears that the desire for indirect primaries by the governors was designed to give them “total” control and to determine those who will be candidates for various elective posts.
