Pope was said to have suffered a shoulder injury earlier this week and has been ruled out for a number of months.

And signing Hart will be ideal for the Turf Moor outfit who are participating in both domestically and in European competitions next term.

He won the Premier League title twice with the club during his reign as the number one for the Citizens but fell out of favour with Pep Guardiola at the club at his arrival.

The 31-year-old has been sent on loan to Torino and West Ham, but will seal a permanent deal with Burnley this summer.

Surprisingly, he travelled with Man City to take part in their US tour, although he was unable to change the opinion of Guardiola.

Hart had also been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and Nice - but it would appear Burnley have won the race.

SunSport reports that the Blues Chelsea are risking the wrath of Blues supporters after listing the £5 million out-of-favour Manchester City shot-stopper, who could not make the Three Lions squad to the just concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after a miserable loan spell at West Ham.

Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois the report suggests in on the wish list of the Los Blancos and has not penned a new deal with the West London side as he enters the last 12 months of his Chelsea contract.
