A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa, Perekeme Kpodoh, has rated low the administration of Governor Seriake Dickson in the three areas of security, power and even development of the state.
Kpodoh said though Dickson’s administration executed some projects in the state, these were not evenly distributed.
He also rated the governor low in the area of proper security measures for the citizens, adding that the Yenagoa, the capital of the state, had been turned into a slum “with residents sleeping with eyes open due to violent crimes.”

Chief Kpodoh, who was a security adviser to the Bayelsan government, said in a statement issued via email to NAIJ.com, that instead of utilizing the state’s investment of three percent in the power Holding Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), the administration failed to pay up electricity consumption debt incurred by parastatals and departments and allowed the residents to suffer constant blackout.
“It is unfair that the state government invested the money into the acquisition of the power company and failed to pay up bills running into millions of naira and allowed it to affect the people.
“Why can't the state government pay up the debt owed? They have put the burden of total blackout on the suffering people of the state and local investors.
“Yenagoa has been turned into slum without proper planning. Why are they contesting development along political lines? Go to Akwa Ibom, you will marvel at what was done to Uyo, the state capital.
“Late DSP Alameiseigha came and took the university to Ammassoma. (Goodluck) Jonathan from the federal level took university to Otuoke and Governor Dickson came and took university to Toru Orua. What sort of development is that?
“There is no detailed plan for Yenagoa, the state capital. Yenagoa has continued to take the shape of a slum.
“The three existing markets in Swali, Opolo and Tombia are community markets. There is the need for an international market to attract investors to the state.
“Most monies spent on fruitless efforts of attracting investor are monies that would have been used to develop substantial investment ideas for the state.
“The state capital is experiencing strange odour with mounting refuse and poor sanitary conditions.
“Look at the creeks, they should be dredged to create route for ships and vessels linking Bayelsa and Rivers states. When it rains, the people of the state suffer and homes are submerged,” Kpodoh said adding that Yenagoa is a fertile land for investments.
Kpodoh announced that the coalition of civil society groups have started collating facts and figures with the hope of approaching a competent court of law to grant them an order compelling Dickson to give a detail account.
“Now that they created another security outfit known as Door Akpo, what is the benefit? Now the people of the state sleep with their eyes open.
“Security matter was politicised and is still being politicised. During Famou Tamgbe time, the crime rate was zero. Now, people are being r*ped, dispossess of valuables and some shot dead.”

Kpodoh declared that there is no amount of intimidation that can stop the people of the state from asking questions.
“Governor Dickson was once in the opposition and criticised DSP Alameiseigha, GoodLuck Jonathan and Chief Timipre Sylva and he was not intimidated.
“There is no amount of threats, blackmail and intimidation that can stop some persons from suggesting the way forward for Bayelsa state,” he said.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that Perekeme Kpodoh declared that it would be difficult for his party to repeat the Ekiti governorship election success in Bayelsa state.
Kpodoh, a former security adviser to the Bayelsa state government, said it was only wishful thinking for supporters of the APC in Bayelsa to claim that the victory of Kayode Fayemi would be repeated in Bayelsa in 2020.
