Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has pleaded with Nigerians abroad to return home and contribute their quota to the development of the country just as he received an endorsement ahead of the 2019 election in Nigeria.
The governor, who made the appeal, received the endorsement from the Yoruba community in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), led by Hajj Nasir Adjumat.

Ambode, who was represented by leaders of Project LOUD (Lagos of Our Dream), Abiodun Yinusa and Kenny Bakare, at a strategic meeting in Dubai with Nigerians on investment opportunities in Lagos state, said returning to invest in Nigeria would help to reduce unemployment and boost the country’s economy.
He said his government was making Lagos work for everyone and that the state had been repositioned as the global gateway for Africa and an easy place to do business.
“I would like to thank you for this endorsement and we know that it is a call to further service. The governor has repositioned Lagos state as the global gateway to Africa and has also put deliberate policies in place to enhance ease of business.
“The governor is giving us the Lagos of our dream and he is committed to sustainable growth and development of the state.
“The endorsement, no doubt, will definitely spur the governor to do more for the residents, investors, and visitors,” he said.
On his part, Adjumat explained that it was a unanimously decision to endorse Ambode for re-election ahead of the 2019 general elections because of his achievements so far.
“Ambode’s record of achievement is there for all to see. In terms of infrastructural renewal, he has opened up every part of the state, building bridges and roads in every part of the state.

“The governor has invested massively in security, which in turn has aided the economy to thrive. There is Light Up Lagos Project, One Lagos Fiesta, Lake Rice, N25 billion Employment Trust Fund, among other laudable initiatives.
“In view of the giant strides of Ambode in office so far, we are unanimously endorsing him for another term in office to continue the good works across the state,” he said.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode reiterated the need for Nigeria to implement the federal system as originally intended, saying doing so remains the right path to rescue the country from the doldrums and myriad of challenges inhibiting growth and development.
Ambode, who spoke while delivering the University of Lagos convocation lecture and investiture of Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as the 12th vice chancellor of the institution, said it was a common knowledge that the federal government was burdened with tasks beyond the reach of its best competencies to the detriment of states, which are the federating units.
