Iheanacho, Vardy and Mahrez score as Leicester City demolish Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium

- Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho scored in Leicester City's 3-1 win over Arsenal

- The Gunners are now condemned to play in the Europa League next season as they will finish 6th on the log

- Meanwhile the Foxes must avoid defeat in their last game to finish among the top ten teams on the table

Arsenal suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday, May 9, in Arsene Wenger's penultimate match as the manager of the club.

Having crashed out of the Europa League championship at the semi final stage, the Gunners immediately returned to winning way - beating Burnley 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

However, they were unable to replicate that form in their mid-week Premier League encounter as the Foxes proved too much for their visitors to handle.

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho opened scoring for the Leicester in the 14th minute after receiving a sublime pass from Fousseni Diabate and carefully placed the ball at the back of the net.

Meanwhile, just one minute the goal was scored, Konstantinos Mavropanos, who made his third appearance for the Gunners this season was sent off for a foul against the Super Eagles forward.

Wenger's men did all they could to equalise before the end of the first half, but all their efforts failed to hit the target.

After returning from the half time break, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised for the guests in the 53rd minute after picking a loose ball from Eldin Jakupovic's save to his side a lifeline in the meeting.

With the Gabonese striker scoring the much needed goal for the north Londoners, the game became balanced minutes before the hour-mark.

England international Jamie Vardy restored Leicester's lead in the 76th minute through a spot kick after Henrikh Mkhitaryan had tripped Demarai Gray in the 18-yard box.

Just on the stroke of full time, Algeria star Riyad Mahrez sealed the victory for the former Premier League champions after dribbles past his opponents to score the goal.

With this result, the Gunners will finish 6th on the Premier League table, while Leicester must avoid defeat in their remaining game this season to finish among the top ten teams on the log this season.

Earlier in the season, the north Londoners claim a 4-1 victory over Leicester at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger's men may not won any silverware this term, they will play in Europe next season.
