Igbos residing in Yobe state have been assured by the state governor Ibrahim Gaidam that they have no need to fear over the quit notice issued by the Coalition of Northern Youths (CNY).
The governor gave his assurance in a statement issued by his spokesman and special adviser Abdullahi Bego on Wednesday June 14, Premium Times reports.
Gaidam urged all northern states to channel their resources towards programmes which will lead to the betterment of Nigeria instead of resorting to polarizing tactics.

He referred to the quit notice as being “unfortunate, unlawful, and unwarranted”.
Yobe, one of the 19 northern states in the federation, is one of the farthest states from southern Nigeria, and is home to a large population of Igbos.
According to the statement: “Like other Nigerians, the Igbos have a right that is fully guaranteed by our constitution to live in any part of the country of their choice.
“As a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural society, part of our nation’s strength lies in the diversity of its people. It is what has moved every successful nation forward.
“In Yobe State, the Igbos, like the people of other ethnicities, have lived and engaged peacefully with their neighbors.”
