Most Reverend Oliver Dashe, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri, has stated that some influential and selfish Nigerians are behind the Boko Haram sect.
In a chat with journalists, Dashe also added that Boko Haram is an offshoot of corruption. Speaking in Maiduguri on Wednesday April 5, 2017.
The cleric praised President Muhammadu Buhari for the resounding success against Boko Haram in the North East and the military for restoring peace to the region.

He also urged security agents to intensify efforts to remove the insurgents who still occasionally carry out bomb attacks.
In the bishop's opinion, the Christian community in the state suffered heavy loses due to the crisis and were in dire need of the government's assistance.
Concluding his statement, Dashe called for the involvement of Christian bodies in the rebuilding plan of the North East.
He said: "The plan for the rebuilding the North-East should involve the church; if the church has been part of assisting the victims of insurgency, it should equally be involved in the rebuilding plan.
"The Federal Government should get the church involved in the efforts at reconstruction."
