NAIJ.com recalls that last month, Olafemi wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari alleging marginalization of Okun people of Kogi West Senatorial district in a recent appointment made by the federal government from the state.

Olafemi in his letter said the appointments as favouring only one section of the state to the detriment of others, especially the Okun people.

In the letter he said: “Within one week, four federal appointments were made by the federal government and the entire appointments were in one senatorial area of the state - the Eastern Senatorial Area where we already have two major state appointments -the Deputy Governor and the powerful ‘Chief of Staff’.

“Our Central Senatorial area has the two ambassadorial slots for Kogi state in addition to producing the governor with nothing at all for the west senatorial area and by extension the third largest tribe - the Okuns.”

The spokesperson of Kogi state police command, William Ayah, while speaking to the press on Wednesday, confirmed that the attempt on Olafemi's life is true and that the suspect is in the custody of Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
