2. The WhatsApp beta update now allows messages to be revoked a whole 5 minutes after it has been sent.

The feature however is turned off by default in Settings, so users will have to enable it to take advantage of the same.

3. Also, upon selecting text, beta users are now seeing new formatting shortcuts including Bold, Italic, Monospace, and Strikethrough. Users on Android 7+ will already be able to see Translate, provided they have Google Translate installed.

4. The last update we saw from the beta community was for iOS. The iOS app saw a new Group Info page with a revamped design, new icons that got rid of the older or current spartan interface.

However, for now it has not shown up on the public version of WhatsApp for iOS, so the above updates could indeed be a long way off.

The federal government has dismissed reports circulating on the social media that it has mandated that ministry of interior to monitor and record all phone calls and social media posts made by citizens.

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, described the reports as false and misleading.

Mohammed, in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, April 10, said the report was another example of disinformation that has permeated the media space, especially the social media.

NAIJ.com learnt that the minister noted that the intention of those behind the false news is to give the impression that the federal government is working to stifle freedom of speech, which is not the case.

"There is no regulation, old or new, from the Ministry of Interior or any federal government agency requiring the recording of all calls or the monitoring of Social Media platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter or Facebook.

"We are therefore using this medium to inform all Nigerians that what is being circulated in this regard is totally false and should be disregarded."

Meanwhile, Nigerian social media has been abuzz. NAIJ.com brings you some of the latest scoops:
