Pulse List: 5 Nigerian singers who have made a fortune with their husky voice

These voices have gone on to be golden and earning these talented artists fortune, fame and an enviable music career.

No doubt a musician’s voice is one of his most prized asset and quality that endears him to the fans. It’s one of the hallmarks that distinguishes a singer from his or her peers, and the world has been blessed to have diverse appealing voices.

The Nigerian music scene is no different, as we have come to witness, amazing voices ruling the airwaves from time immemorial. This article focuses on the new era singers who have a characteristic voice, that could best be described as husky.

The husky voices by these five Nigerian singers have gone on to be golden and earning these talented artists fortune, fame and an enviable music career.

Kiss Daniel

 

This G-Worldwide act has gone on to use that unique voice of his to woo ladies. He has been acclaimed as an excellent songwriter and singer, as his debut album “New Era” attests to. Kiss simply honed his lightly husky voice to his advantage and has not looked back since.

 

Davido

 

If you were to hear or have heard Davido talk in an interview, you would wonder how he still manages to pull off singing with a voice that appeals greatly to many. Songs like ‘Aye’ and ‘Gobe’ are a testament.

Alapomeji  ‘Gongo Aso’ singer even recently admitted to having a cracked voice, owing it to poor microphones that make him have to shout on top of his voice among other reasons, but truth be told, the singer has always had that cracked voice, and we could safely say it’s part of his total brand package, working for him just fine.

 

Terry Apala

 

The new school Fuji singer’s voice is a delight listening to. The harsh texture of his voice is a natural blessing to cherish and the singer knows this himself. This is his identity and Terry is owning it pretty well. ‘Modernize’, ‘Champagne showers’, are some of his records you get to feel that magical voice.

 

Pasuma

 

Veteran Fuji/Hip-hop singer Pasuma Wonder rightly uses his hoarse voice to win fans all over, rocking parties on the streets of Lagos and beyond with his legendary music. These days he is dabbling more in the Hip-Hop, and slow serenading music, recently releasing a beautiful romantic number titled ‘Kowale’.
