Why Nigeria needs urgent prayers to survive - Uche Secondus

- The national chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, says God’s intervention is needed to bring about reprieve from the challenges faced in Nigeria under the current administration

- Secondus notes that all indicators point to the fact that Nigeria as a country needs prayers and commitment to survive

- The PDP chieftain says the abundant human and material resources in the country has not being harnesses by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration

The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has urged Muslims in Nigeria to pray for the country as they mark the end of the 30-day Ramadan fasting.

Vanguard reports that Secondus in a Sallah message to Muslims through his media aide, Ike Abonyi, said only God’s intervention would bring about reprieve from the challenges being faced in Nigeria under the President Muhammdu Buhari administration.

The PDP chieftain noted that all indicators point to the fact that Nigeria as a country is under severe pressure and needed prayers and commitment of all to survive.

Secondus said the abundant human and material resources in the country has not being harnesses by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration which he accused of resorting to various undemocratic acts to thwart the will of the people.

“The security situation in the country, the uncertainty in the polity and the worsening economic downturn which are consequences of poor leadership entails that Nigerians should return to God for help and direction,” he noted.

The PDP chairman said most of the problems confronting the ordinary people would have been solved if politicians in the country absorb the lessons of Ramadan and allow it influence their conduct.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Muslims in the country to Muslims to sustain the virtues of the Ramadan period.

In his Sallah message to Nigerians to celebrate the end of the Ramadan fasting season, he asked Muslims to always put humanity before personal interests.

The Ramadan period is meant to reinforce us spiritually, therefore, we should use religion as an inspiration to do good at all times.

The president also used the occasion to commiserate with victims of terrorism, kidnapping and banditry in the country. He said the days of criminal elements were numbered.
