Manchester United have confirmed the departure of Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera following their refusal to renew his contract.

The 29-year-old made just 25 appearances scoring two goals and assisting three others in all competitions in the out-gone campaign owing to series of injury.

He joined the club from Spanish League side Athletic Bilbao in July 2014 in an initial four year deal valued around €36 million.

Herrera played a key role in his side's Europa League triumph in 2017 - having helped them to win FA Cup in 2016, and EFL Cup in 2016.

Although, the midfielder had confirmed his exit after learning the club would not be giving him a new deal and he is on the radar of Paris Saint Germain and other clubs.

Another key player that will not be wearing the Red Devils' colours next season is their captain, Antonio Valencia.

The 33-year-old managed to feature for the Old Trafford outfit just nine times in all competitions in the 2018-19 season.

He had already been frozen out of the team by former boss Jose Mourinho in the first half of the campaign and the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not favour him either.

Other stars who have been released by the club are Regan Poole, Zak Dearnley, Tom Sang, Callum Whelan, and Matty Willock.

James Wilson, Matthew Olosunde, Tyrell Warren, DJ Buffonge, Callum Gribbin, Josh and Baars Bohui, and James Thompson have also been told to look for another club while they free up space for incoming stars.

Man United manager has however completed his signing for the club after signing 21-year-old Daniel James from Swansea City this summer.
