Jubilation as Ondo community gets electricity after 100 years

- The coastal community of Gbagira in Ondo state has gotten the opportunity of 24 hours light

- The community had been neglected for 100 years without electricity

- An investment for a mini-grid had reportedly been made in 2018

After being neglected with no electricity for 100 years, the coastal community of Gbagira in Ondo state has gotten the opportunity of 24 hours light.

The development was made public by a Twitter user, @ovieali, on Sunday, June 2.

Legit.ng gathers that the development will aid the residents of the community boost their fishing economy.

An investment for a mini-grid had reportedly been made in 2018.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that respite came to the people of Omotosho in Ondo state as their long stay in darkness finally came to an end, after the intervention of Babatunde Raji Fashola, minister of power, work and housing.

The community, despite being host to phase I and face II of Omotosho power stations, had been in total darkness for 15 years.

House of Reps member representing Okitipupa /Irele federal constituency, Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin, was said to have played a pivotal role in having the light restored.
