Pochettino breaks down in tears after Spurs UCL historic comeback to reach finals

- Spurs are through to this year's edition of the UEFA Champions League

- Pochettino was reduced to tears after his side staged an incredible comeback against Ajax to qualify for the finals

Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino, could not hold back his emotions after his side's stunning comeback against Ajax Amsterdam to qualify for the Champions League finals.

Spurs went into the second leg of the semi final clash with a one goal deficit following their defeat suffered in the reverse tie played in London.

Ajax further made it nearly impossible for Spurs to make a comeback after striking twice in the first half in the Wednesday night, May 9, clash played at Johan Cruyff Stadium.

However, with a three-goal deficit to turn around, Tottenham managed to rally back in the second half, as Lucas Moura's magnificent hat-trick ensured their progression to the finals.

Emotions ran high at the full-time whistle, with Pochettino breaking down in tears as he hugged members of his coaching staff and players.

The Argentine tactician distinguished his players as heroes in his post-match interview, even as he fought to hold back the tears.

"The emotion is amazing, thank you to football. My players are heroes – in the last year I was telling everyone this group are heroes. The second half they were amazing. Thank you football – this type of emotion without football is no possible," he told BT Sport.

"Thank you to everyone who has believed in us. To describe this in words is difficult," he added.

Spurs are now set to battle Liverpool in the finals for a chance to lift the European title.

Meanwhile, Premier League side, Spurs, are through to their first ever Champions League final following their 3-2 win over Ajax at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Mauricio Pochettino's men produced a superb performance in the second half to outclass the Dutch side progress to the final on 3-3 aggregate.
