Earlier, the tribunal in its judgement upheld the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke and nullified the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Adegboyega Oyetola, The Nation reports.

However, Oyetola, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) filed substantive appeals, seeking the setting aside of the majority decision and it reaction, Adeleke filed a across-appeal, challenging the decision.

The ruling party alongside INEC prayed the court to dismiss Adeleke's appeal, claiming that it falls short of merit.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Adeleke had arrived in court following his arrest by security operatives.

The governorship candidate of the PDP was arrested on Monday, May 6, and was taken to court on Tuesday, May 7.
