Northern governors to hold crucial meeting in Kaduna on Friday, May 17 as kidnappings, banditry increase in region

- Northern governors will hold a meeting in Kaduna state on Friday, May 17 to discuss the region’s security challenges

- The meeting will take place at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna

- A new leadership for the Northern Governors Forum will also be included in the items for deliberation

The Northern Governors Forum will hold a meeting in Kaduna state today, Friday, May 17 to discuss about the security challenges affecting the region.

The development was made public in a statement released by the forum’s chairman and governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the statement disclosed that the meeting will take place at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna.

During the meeting, the governors will deliberate on the spate of armed banditry, kidnappings and other security challenges in the region.

It was also gathered that a new leadership for the forum will also be included in the items for deliberation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that veteran Nollywood actor, Larry Koldsweat, on Friday, May 3, led other Nigerian celebrities on a solidarity walk to call for an end to banditry and kidnappings in the north-western part of the country.

The celebrities, under the auspices of the Human Rights Monitoring Group, called on the world to take notice that high ranking politicians such as governors,former governors, ministers, traditional rulers from Zamfara state were behind the resurgence of killings in the north-west.

Addressing journalists at a rally which held from the Unity Fountain to the presidential villa, Abuja, Koldsweat urged Nigerians to rise up against politicians that are sponsoring these killings all over Zamfara state, with a firm demand that they put an end to such.
