Some heavily armed policemen have been reportedly deployed to the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and the residents of some senior council members of the Kano Emirate.

Daily Trust reports that on Saturday, May 11, about 10 police Hilux Vans with security personnel were stationed at the emir’s palace at Kofar Kudu, while another 10 patrol vehicles were deployed to the personal residence of chief of staff to the emir of Kano along Iyaka road.

The newspaper stated that additional deployment of policemen were stationed at the residence of another aide of the emir, the incumbent Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, while the main entrance of Kano state government house was also guarded by security officials.

When the Kano state police spokesperson, Haruna Abdullahi, was asked about the deployment, he said he was not aware of the police operation and would rather not make any comment about it.

I will find out from my superiors why police Mopol were deployed and communicate to you. As soon as I get details of the operation, I will get back to you," he said.

Daily Trust however stated that the security deployment may be connected with planned presentation of letters of appointment to the four new emirs by the state governor.

Meanwhile, Kano governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said he was not aware of the court order restraining him from creating additional emirates in the state and giving staff of office to new emirs.

The governor made this know on Saturday, May 11, while proceeding with the move to give letter of appointment to emirs of the newly created emirates at Kofar Mata Indoor Sports Hall

Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Kano state high court, in a judgement on Friday May 10, had granted an order restraining Ganduje from implementing the establishment of four more emirates.

Justice Nasiru Saminu, in a suit filed by one Rabiu Sule Gwarzo, gave an interim injunction directing all parties in the suit to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

The Kano governor has, however, defied the court order and unveiled the names of the new emirs for Rano, Bichi, Gaya and Karaye
