As EFCC battles Saraki, Senate president launches rehabilitation of Kwara roads

- Senate President Bukola Saraki commences rehabilitation of roads in Omu-Aran, Irepodun local government area of Kwara state

- Saraki notes that the commencement of the projects is in fulfillment of his promise to the people of thte area

- The Senate president urges the people of the area to cooperate with the contractor handling the project

Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate president, on Sunday, May 12, launched the rehabilitation of some township roads in Omu-Aran, Irepodun local government area of Kwara state.

Saraki, who is facing fresh issues with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was represented by his deputy chief of staff, Gbenga Makanjuola.

The Senate president said the project was to fulfill his promise to assist in alleviating the sufferings of the people of the community just as he urged the residents to give the construction company maximum cooperation in order to ensure the speedy completion of the project.

“It is to the glory of God that our promise on the reconstruction of Omu-Aran township roads has today become a reality.

“As the project progresses, I want to solicit your maximum support and cooperation in order to ensure its speedy completion.

“Residents who have kiosks, containers and other things that can cause obstruction should have them removed without any altercation,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Saraki assured the community that more developmental projects would be executed in the area, describing the road project as a tip of the iceberg.

The report said the contractor handling the project, Adeyemo Ismail, expressed his company’s readiness to complete the project in record time.

On his part, Muyiwa Oladipo, the chairman of the local government area, described the project as very timely, beneficial and a welcome development.

“Recently, the roads were given a facelift by Makanjuola but today our joy is unquantifiable.

“Also deserving recognition and commendation are the street lights provided across the nooks and crannies of the community financed by Makanjuola,” he said adding that the project had gone a long way in assisting security agencies in their patrols and surveillance.

Also, the traditional ruler of the community, Abdulraheem Adeoti, lauded Saraki for considering the community worthy of recognition through the road intervention.

Legit.ng earlier reported that emerging reports indicated that five choice properties of Senate president, Bukola Saraki, located in high brow Ikoyi area of Lagos were sealed off by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged corruption.
