30 school principals demoted over alleged partisanship in Sokoto

- Some secondary school principals have been demoted to classroom level in Sokoto state

- The principals were said to have been involved in partisan politics in the state

- Also, the Sokoto state government reportedly reassigned classrooms to the affected principals

The Sokoto state government on Monday, May 20, demoted over 30 principals of secondary schools in the state.

The state government reportedly reassigned classrooms to these principals over alleged partisanship.

Daily Trust reports that among those demoted is the president of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Muhammad Musa and his secretary.

The duo were said to have been redeployed to the mother ministry.

Also, one of the principals who were affected described the demotion as disastrous and could hinder educational development in the state.

However, ANCOPSS president said while he could not confirm whether the demotion was politically motivated, the affected civil servants have taken it in good faith.

Also speaking, the commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Aishat Madawaki, said committees were set up before the principals were demoted.

She however denied that the posting was politically motivated.

According to her some of the principals were demoted to vice principals because they had “not changed were reassigned to classrooms.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Aminu Tambuwal had boasted that his inauguration will go on as planned on May 29.

The governor insisted that nobody will stop his swearing in on May 29 even though there are some plots to cause chaos in the state.

Tambuwal through his senior special adviser, Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi, alleged that certain individuals were spreading lies and creating confusion that the court was going to remove him from office and give power to the APC.
