Nigerian star who plays for top Spanish club wins prestigious award

- NFF awards held at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Monday, April 1, saw Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze emerge winner of the young player of the year

- Chukwueze beat Charleroi star Victor Osimhen and Galatasaray forward Henry Onyekuru to pick up the award

- In the female category, Nasarrawa Amazons star Anam Imo beat Avaldsnes IL's forward Rasheedat Ajibade and Rivers Angels goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie to pick up the award

Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has been crowned the best young player at the second edition of the Aiteo-NFF awards.

The 19-year-old beat Super Eagles teammates Victor Osimhen and Henry Onyekuru to the prestigious prize.

Chukwueze has been impressive for his Spanish League side scoring six goals and registering one assist across all competitions this season.

In the female category, Super Falcons striker Anam Imo, emerged the winner of the women's category of 'Young Player of the year'.

The Nasarrawa Amazons star beat Avaldsnes IL's forward Rasheedat Ajibade and Rivers Angels goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie to pick up the award.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday night, March 26, defeated Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 in a tough international friendly game played at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba.

The goal came after just eight seconds from the boot of Paul Onuachu who plays for Danish club FC Midtjylland.
