Legit.ng gathers that Adamu, who was represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, disclosed that the reasons why there were millions of out-of-school children included financial incapacitation, violent conflicts, ignorance on the part of parents/guardian and lack of political will to confront the ugly phenomenon.

He further cited socio-cultural complexities, distance to schools, physically challenged children, child labour, migration, and orphanages as some of the reasons why children were not in school.

He listed states where the problem was endemic as Kano, Akwa Ibom, Katsina, Kaduna, Taraba, Sokoto, Yobe, Zamfara, Oyo, Benue, Jigawa and Ebonyi.

He stated: “For us as an administration, our concerns have been two-fold; to find an empirical means of getting the figures right and the best ways of reducing the number to the barest minimum.”
