Massive jubilation at Old Trafford as Man City star ruled out Manchester derby

- Kevin De Bruyne has been confirmed to miss the all important Manchester derby

- The Manchester City playmaker suffered a hamstring injury during win against Spurs

- Man United desperately need a win to remain in contention for Premier League top four

Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out of Wednesday's, April 24, Manchester derby that could prove costly to Man City's Premier League ambitions.

The 27-year-old sustained an hamstring injury in Saturday's league win over Tottenham and is out of the blockbuster Manchester derby.

De Bruyne injured his hamstring against Mauricio Pochettino's men, but it is understood that he did not further damage his troublesome left knee.

The news will come as a massive lift for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but as a major blow to Pep Guardiola.

The Norwegian boss' difficult run continued on Sunday as the Red Devils received a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Everton.

United who are now sixth on the table face an almighty scrap to break into the Premier League top four.

And a win would go a long way to help United fight their way into the Champions League next season.

If they finish sixth, they may even need to qualify for the Europa League - if Watford beat Guardiola's side in the FA Cup final.

United sit just two points away from fourth-placed side Arsenal and one point further away from Tottenham in third.

While Solskjaer knows a win would help their European ambitions, it would also hand their bitter rivals Liverpool the upper-hand in the race for the Premier League title.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Manchester United Spanish stars including David de Gea, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata reportedly believe preferential treatment is being given to English players.

The Red Devils are currently planning to return to 'home-based' strategy that made them successful under Sir Alex Ferguson.
