Politician and national treasurer of Youth Party (YP), Aminu Auwalu, has shared details of his experience vying as a member of House of Representatives for Tarauni federal constituency, Kano state in the recently concluded 2019 elections.
In an interview with Legit,ng, Auwalu, who ran under the flagship of YP claimed that All Progressives Congress (APC) and other major political parties in Nigeria participated in vote buying in the elections.
According to him, the people were given gifts and meager sums for the sole purpose of influencing their choice of candidate while performing their civic duty.

He said: “The APC participated in vote buying in Kano state but this is not to absolve other major political parties who also participated in the illegality. So not just APC but perhaps they were the ones who paid the most.”
He stated that the success of such illegality as vote purchasing is the effect of the vicious circle of poverty that many Nigerians are suffering.
He also pointed out that politics should be the people's saviour but unfortunately, it has become nothing but ambition which retires its cohorts into billions with no questions asked.
Speaking further on the outcome of the seemingly tainted elections, Auwalu also claimed that no official result was released in Kano but the candidate of the APC in the name of Hafizu Kawu was declared winner in the Tarauni federal constituency.
He also revealed that out of 44 federal constituencies in Kano, APC won all.

Meanwhile, a pressure group had accused some powerful individuals in the APC of planning to rig the re-run polls in Kano state.
The group, Concerned Kano Citizens (CKC), had advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to bow to pressure from such individuals. They also had advised the president to guarantee that the conduct of the polls in the state is fair.
